Improving Indiana’s Adult Education – Let’s get started!
Happy Friday! My time to write today’s post is short because I somehow scheduled my project in such a way that I now have five separate deadlines today. What was I thinking??? I’ll plan an upcoming post on project management lessons learned!
For my readers in Indiana, which I assume is a majority, you might be interested to know that the Indiana Chamber of Commerce released a report this week:
The report is a follow-up to a report released last year which indicated that over 1 million Indiana adults who haven’t completed high school, aren’t literate, or don’t earn a living wage. Way too many!
Many of the recommendations are things that you’d expect and I encourage you to check it out. What I found interesting was that the report makes no recommendations for additional funds. Instead,
“There is approximately $10 million in funds that employers paid through taxes to the TAG (Training Acceleration Grant) program that was left on the table at the end of 2008. We believe that money should still be used for what it was intended – workforce training – in one form or another. ”
Are you aware of the grants available to employers in Indiana for training and development? If not, check out the state’s website! Let’s all work together to help the adult learners in Indiana have the skills they need to succeed!
