Title: Learning Designer

Who I am

I am a Learning Designer.

What I bring to your Bottom Line

I have a passion for creating lively solutions that help people work smarter and more effectively. I think of myself as a learner advocate; my mantra has become "dump the drone!" Learners deserve more than just boring lectures and online page-turners. It's my goal to create something that challenges learners and gives them opportunities to practice doing things they'll have to do in real life—like finding information when they need it or solving real-world problems rather than regurgitating facts. I want the final product—whether it's a job aid, an e-learning course, or a full-blown training curriculum—to energize and motivate learners. Most importantly, I want it to help learners do whatever it is they need to do to be successful.

Facts About Me
  • I am a “Law & Order” junkie. For some reason, I never tire of the re-runs on TNT. (This tends to irritate my husband on “marathon” weekends.)
  • I love to read. I like all kinds of fiction, but recently I’ve been gravitating more toward memoirs.
  • I feel I’m at my best when I’m supporting others and helping them shine; I’m not one who relishes the limelight.
  • I really dislike grocery shopping and cooking. But since I rather enjoy eating, I’m forced to do both on occasion (albeit grudgingly).
How I like to Give Back

Most of my efforts these days focus on my local community. I spend a lot of time volunteering at my kids' elementary school and participating in the PTO and Parent Council for Washington Township Schools. I am currently co-chairing two PTO committees, which keeps me pretty busy. I feel lucky that my kids attend a "Service-Learning" school, so meaningful community service projects are integrated into the curriculum each grading period. Through the PTO, I've had the opportunity to support some great local and international community service projects—from helping with phone book recycling and canned food drives to fundraising for H2O for Life.
